Emily Pack is one half of husband and wife blogging duo A Day Pack.  Their Insta feed (@adaypack) is an inspiration in itself, and their blog covers style, travel, & more with a beautiful, simple aesthetic and a tone that’ll make you feel like they’re your new (super hip and stylish) best friends. Fortunately for us, these besties are willing to take us along as they navigate what it means to consume in a more intentional and thoughtful way, and look good doing it.  We’re so glad to have them as fellow travelers on this journey.

Read about Emily's five ethical faves then click over and find out what her husband Nick picked.  This is our first ever his and hers guest edit; hope you love it!

MAZI
Horseshoe Drop Earrings in Speckled

the stuff:

When I first came across these earrings, I basically jumped for joy! I hold a special place in my heart for black & white prints (seriously, our house is filled with an array of black & white patterned art). Despite what you might guess at first glance, these earrings are exceptionally light weight. I love wearing the Speckled Horseshoe Drop Earrings for occasions, while the Speckled Halfmoon Studs are perfect for everyday.

the story

The designer behind these stunning pieces is Ashley, a Chicago-based registered nurse and multidisciplinary artist. Each piece is hand-crafted in her home studio. Believe it or not, Ash actually hand paints each and every speckle you see on her designs. Amazing, right!? What’s even more incredible and beautiful is that 25% of all Mazi profits go toward Team World Vision, helping to bring clean water to Africa. Mazi, meaning together in Greek, is not just crafting unique and stunning accessories, but is on mission to help meet human needs worldwide.

the stuff:

We live in the beautiful, yet often cold and rainy, city of Seattle. Sweater weather basically sums up our climate around here! Thought’s Fairfield Mustard Cable Knit Jumper is the perfect pop of color to brighten some gloomy Seattle weekdays. It’s ethically crafted out of organic cotton and is the perfect weight for layering.

the story:

Based in the UK, Thought is a forerunner brand in the ethical marketplace. Not only does Thought craft their garments under extremely strict ethical guidelines, they make a specific point to only create clothing out of the most sustainable materials (such as organic cotton, hemp, and wool). They are one of very few ethical brands to offer such a vast selection of closet essentials. From raincoats to cozy socks, you’re bound to find exactly what you need from Thought!

PURPOSE JEWELRY
Riviera Thin Collar Necklace
$40

the stuff:

I love a good statement necklace, but sometimes you just need a strikingly beautiful accessory that isn’t bright, thick, or heavy. When I discovered Purpose Jewelry’s Riviera Thin Collar Necklace, minimalist chic were the words that came to mind. It’s dainty, yet bold. Understated, yet stunning. This is the kind of piece you could easily wear to work, then keep on for a night on the town.

the story:

Purpose Jewelry is an unique accessory brand focused on empowerment and education for women and girls rescued from human trafficking. The art of jewelry making, paired with holistic care, ensures every artisan receives freedom and hope for the future. Holistic care is provided through Purpose Jewelry’s non-profit, International Sanctuary, and includes education, health care, and counseling. Modern day slavery is a horrific and rampant issue, making us all the more grateful for brands, like Purpose, who partner with victims and bring hope into the darkness.

LEAVE NOTHING BUT FOOTPRINTS
Bridget Lounge Dress
$99

the stuff

Do you ever open your closet and think, "I have nothing to wear today." Let me introduce you to the most versatile garment your closet has ever seen: The Bridget Lounge Dress from Leave Nothing But Footprints. From the moment I slipped on this dress, I loved it. First off, it’s exceptionally comfortable. I would be overjoyed to slip this dress on every night before bed! But it’s too wonderful for that! Second, the organic bamboo fabric is buttery soft, yet surprisingly thick. I never would’ve considered bamboo to be a winter textile, but oh how I quickly changed that perception. Finally, I adore how this dress is loose fitting, yet beautifully structured. Available in sizes XS to XXL, this piece is flattering for all.

the story:

Leave Nothing But Footprints is on mission to transform the way people view manufacturing garments in China. China is, understandably, where the majority of the worlds bamboo trees are grown, sourced and spun into the viscose bamboo fabrics. By working with factories that create their garments from start to finish-  fabrics are spun, dyed and assembled all in one factory- they are limiting their environmental impact. Not only this, LNBF ensures their workers are paid up to 20-50% more than the region's minimum wage. This innovative brand is deeply changing the culture of ethical production overseas!

NISOLO
Dari Boot in Black
$248

the stuff:

Me? I’m a boot girl. Give me a good ‘ol pair of boots over any other form of footwear and I’ll be happy. But do you ever wish you had a shoe (or in my case, a boot) that worked for every occasion? Comfortable enough for running errands, stylish enough for office wear, and sophisticated enough for a date night? The Dari Boot by Nisolo is what you’ve been missing. The quality of these boots is evident from the moment you simply look at them: buttery soft leather, gold zipper closure, a mid height heel.

the story:

Nisolo is quickly changing the culture of the fashion industry. And coincidentally, they aren’t using fast fashion to do so. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, Nisolo crafts timeless and quality footwear for him and her; truly something for everyone. Holding to a higher standard, Nisolo ethically manufactures their shoes in Peru, Mexico, and Kenya, offering living wages that are 27% beyond fair trade wage requirements. In fact, in one of their partner factories, entry level producers receive up to 74% more than fair trade wages, while experienced producers receive significantly more.
